The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Information
In order to ensure that the young people involved in the Award Scheme at Soham
Village College gain the maximum amount of benefit from the scheme and to quality
control the scheme we have introduced Skills/Service and Physical Activity monitoring
sheets. These will be explained at the Introductory Meeting and are on the web site,
BUT the training sessions AND all of the sections service/skills and physical activity
MUST be completed satisfactorily in order for young people to gain their Award.
The service, skills and physical activity must be completed and signed off before being able to participate in the expedition.
The cost of both training and assessed expeditions for both Bronze and Silver will be: £95 This price is heavily subsidised by the School/Youth Service. Payments are made at the time of registration and this is explained in the information letter which contains dates and kit list. Registration is only secured if a £25 deposit is paid. (Cheques made payable in Soham to SVC C/ED and in Bottisham to D of E Award Scheme, Bottisham).
There is a behaviour policy for young people taking part in the scheme and parents and young
people will be asked to sign up to this on the first training evening. No young person will be
allowed to take part in the expeditions without all paperwork completed. (This includes their
Service/Skills and Physical activity sheets).
Please remind your child that there is a D of E notice board in the Lodeside entrance of Soham Village College near the stairway and by the Youth Office in the Languages block next to the Golden Room in Bottisham Village College and that all notices will be posted there and it is pupils responsibility to make sure they keep an eye out for notices particularly close to expedition times.
This web site will be kept as up to date as possible, but in case of delays in uploading
information PLEASE make sure the notice board has been checked.
